At Tekron, not only do we operate at the bleeding edge of technology but we also like to support the next generation of engineers and technologists.

Meet Quentin Griffiths, our Regional Sales Manager, who recently visited Maidstone Intermediate School in Upper Hutt, Wellington to help some young minds, develop and program an electronic Christmas tree. The project involved the assembly and programming of a Christmas tree shaped circuit board.  The circuit was made up of a number of components, including LEDs, onboard microprocessor and a speaker, plus other support components.  The aim of the project was for the students to assemble and program their trees to flash the LEDs in sequence with the jingle bell theme song.

It is a great experience to be part of such a program where you get to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and help others make informed career choices. Seeing the level of excitement as you enter the room was definitely a highlight of the day.
